FlowSet DJ is a playlist-first set builder for DJs, dance teachers, dancers, performers, and fitness instructors. You save a setup describing how playlists should be combined, and FlowSet prepares a playable queue for the session. It can remove repeated tracks, help you work with tempo, and automix local music with transitions, reducing the amount of playlist work you need to do before and during an event, class, practice, or workout.

You can start free with the included instrumental tracks and playlists, without importing audio or connecting Apple Music. Try building a set, repeating a selected song passage in single-track playback, or adjusting tempo after analysis. Free has queue-playback and saved-setup limits. Pro pricing and available offers appear in the app through the App Store before purchase; an Apple Music account is needed only when using that source.

Yes. FlowSet DJ includes built-in instrumental tracks and playlists that can be played immediately without importing audio or connecting Apple Music. This included source is called FlowSet Samples. When you are ready, you can also connect Apple Music playlists, configure Local Files, create local playlists in FlowSet, or combine those sources in your set setups.

Playlist mixing means combining playlists and music sources into a saved set setup that FlowSet uses to create a playback order. A setup can select tracks from one playlist, merge several sources, or keep choosing tracks for a chosen duration. Audio tools are separate: Local Files and FlowSet Samples support tempo changes and automix, while Apple Music supports set building and playback.

FlowSet is built around reusable playlist plans rather than a two-deck performance interface. It is useful when you want the app to prepare and maintain a set from playlists, remove repeats, find suitable tempos, and handle supported transitions with less manual work. It does not replace specialist software for scratching, live deck performance, mix recording, or exporting a finished audio mix.

FlowSet is designed for people who organize music into repeatable sessions: DJs, social-dance organizers, dance teachers, dancers, choreographers, performers, event hosts, fitness coaches, and everyday listeners. The shared need is a flexible music plan that can be reused without rebuilding the playback order by hand each time. You do not need to perform as a club DJ to benefit from it.

A saved set setup describes how FlowSet should choose and arrange music for a session. Running that setup can create a fresh queue, so randomized choices or available tracks may produce a different result next time. A saved generated set keeps a playback-ready result for reuse. The app calls the reusable configuration a Smart Set, but thinking of it as a saved music plan is usually clearer for new users.

FlowSet can deduplicate tracks while it builds a set, including when the setup draws from more than one playlist or source. This prevents the same available track from being deliberately selected again in that generated set and saves you from scanning the whole queue manually. Deduplication happens during set building; it does not delete tracks from your original playlists or music library.

Yes. Group saved setups, called Smart Sets, into categories and reorder them. For example, keep beginner classes, social events, and personal practice in separate categories, with your current class setups first. This organizes the saved plans; it does not change the order of tracks in a generated playback queue.

FlowSet supports Apple Music playlists from your library and account, Local Files and local playlists from a folder you choose, and built-in instrumental tracks and playlists called FlowSet Samples. All three can be used to build and play sets. Local Files and FlowSet Samples also support BPM analysis, tempo changes, and automatic or beatmatched transitions. Only single-track playback of those two sources exposes the section-loop editor for repeating a song passage; Apple Music and playlist or Smart Set queue playback do not.

After you grant Media and Apple Music access and sign in to a usable Apple Music account, FlowSet can read your library playlists and play their tracks through that account. These playlists can participate in saved setups and mixed-source queues. Apple Music does not support FlowSet section looping, BPM or waveform analysis, tempo changes, BPM ranges or lock, or local automix and beatmatched transitions. Downloading an Apple Music track does not turn it into a Local Files source.

Yes. A saved setup can draw from Apple Music playlists, your local playlists, and FlowSet Samples while FlowSet maintains one source-aware playback plan. Each track still uses the playback path required by its source. That means a mixed set can move between sources, but local tempo tools and FlowSet transitions apply only to Local Files and FlowSet Samples, not to Apple Music tracks.

FlowSet Samples is the product name for the app's included instrumental music source. Built-in tracks and playlists let you try the core workflow without an import or account connection. Additional sample packs and sample playlists can be downloaded inside the app. They are stored and played as app-managed music, separate from your own Local Files; Pro mode unlocks every FlowSet Samples pack.

Choose a root folder containing an audio folder for tracks and a playlists folder for M3U or M3U8 playlist files. Lowercase audio and playlists names are preferred. Existing folders named Audio and Playlists are also supported for compatibility. Playlist entries should point to audio within the selected root, and FlowSet needs continued permission to that folder so it can resolve and play the files.

FlowSet reads M3U and M3U8 playlist files from the playlists folder inside your configured Local Files root. These text-based formats reference audio stored under that root, and you can also create and manage local playlists within FlowSet. If a playlist is not appearing, confirm its extension, folder location, and referenced paths. Proprietary playlist-database formats from unrelated DJ applications are not treated as M3U playlists.

The current Local Files implementation recognizes AAC, AIF, AIFC, AIFF, ALAC, CAF, FLAC, M4A, M4P, MP3, MP4, and WAV extensions. A recognized extension does not remove operating-system codec, file-integrity, or digital-rights restrictions, so an unusual or protected file may still be unavailable for playback or analysis. Unsupported files are ignored rather than added as playable tracks.

No integrations for Spotify, YouTube Music, SoundCloud, TIDAL, Deezer, or similar services are currently provided. The supported choices are Apple Music playlists, your own Local Files and local playlists, and FlowSet Samples. If music from another service can be obtained only through that service, FlowSet cannot bypass its access rules or convert its streams into local tracks.

FlowSet offers automix-style playback with transitions for file-backed music from Local Files and FlowSet Samples. You can enable transitions for supported selections or local playlist playback so less manual intervention is needed between tracks. Apple Music can be used in set building and playback, but FlowSet transitions are not available for Apple Music tracks.

For supported local tracks, FlowSet analyzes timing information, prepares the next track, and can overlap the outgoing and incoming music automatically. When suitable rhythm information is available, the transition can align beats as well as changing levels. This feature is intended to keep a prepared set moving; it is not a manual two-deck beatmatching interface, and it is not available for Apple Music tracks.

You can add tracks and fill the queue while music is playing using Pro controls such as Add Track and Add More/Add All. Eligible tracks that were added manually can also be reordered; that reordering has no separate Pro requirement. FlowSet keeps the surrounding generated-set context while you make these changes.

Yes. A selection in a saved set setup can choose tracks randomly or follow the selected playlist's order. Random selection is useful when you want a fresh result from the same plan; playlist order is useful when the source already has a meaningful sequence. FlowSet still applies the setup's count, source, deduplication, tempo limits, and other supported options.

Maximum track play time limits how long a track selected by a particular setup action can play before FlowSet moves to the next track. It can help when you want shorter musical segments or more variety during a class, party, rehearsal, or training block. It controls music playback duration; it is not an exercise interval timer and does not track the activity happening during the song.

Yes. You can flag a track while it is playing, review flagged songs later, and use that review workflow to refine your music organization. Saved setups can also avoid flagged tracks when preparing a set. A flag is a FlowSet organizational marker; it does not delete the song from Apple Music, your local folder, or a FlowSet Samples playlist.

Yes. FlowSet can save a generated set as a playback-ready result, separately from the reusable setup that created it. Save the result when you want to keep that particular order; save or duplicate the setup when you want to generate future variations from the same structure. This distinction helps you choose between repeatable planning and an exact prepared run.

Steering mode helps move the music from the current set toward another saved setup without stopping playback and rebuilding the session from silence. It is useful when the room, class, or event needs a different direction than originally planned. The destination remains a FlowSet set setup, so its available sources and playback capabilities still apply.

Yes. A Smart Set loop keeps choosing tracks from the setup actions inside it for a chosen duration. Give it a name such as Warm-up or Practice rounds and collapse it in the builder to make a long setup easier to read. These names belong to track-selection blocks, not saved named passages within a song. A section loop instead repeats cue-in to cue-out within one song in single-track playback.

Prepare a reusable music plan for warm-up, technique work, practice rounds, and cooldown, then let FlowSet create a fresh queue and remove repeated tracks each class. For focused choreography work, open a Local Files or FlowSet Samples song in single-track playback, repeat the selected passage, and adjust its tempo once BPM analysis is ready. Group saved setups by class or level so they are easy to find next time.

Yes. Rehearse a specific part of a choreography by repeating the relevant song passage and adjusting its tempo. In single-track playback of Local Files or FlowSet Samples, turn on Section loop and move cue-in and cue-out to select the passage. Tempo adjustment needs ready BPM analysis. Changing tracks or leaving single-track mode clears the active section. For full rehearsal runs, you can also organize playlists and save set setups.

Build a saved setup from playlists for arrival, different dance styles, energy changes, breaks, and closing music. FlowSet can combine playlists, keep selecting tracks for a chosen duration with a Smart Set loop, create a fresh queue, and remove repeats. Name those setup loops after the parts of your social and collapse them when reviewing the plan.

Choose music that fits your dance and event; the included tracks are instrumental music, not a promised style-specific catalog.

No. FlowSet does not provide dance lessons, choreography, pose recognition, camera-based feedback, or movement scoring. It helps with the music side of practice and teaching: organizing playlists, preparing repeatable sessions, finding supported tempos, slowing local tracks, and keeping playback moving. Use it alongside instruction or training resources rather than as a replacement for them.

Open a Local Files or FlowSet Samples song in single-track playback. Turn on Section loop and move the cue-in and cue-out boundaries to select the passage to repeat. Adjust tempo when BPM analysis is ready, and turn the loop off when you want to continue beyond the passage. Apple Music and playlist or Smart Set queue playback do not expose the section editor. Changing the track or leaving single-track mode clears the active section.

You decide whether the styles remain in separate sections or are selected from merged sources. For file-backed tracks, BPM search limits and tempo controls can help target a practice range; FlowSet does not classify a song's dance style automatically.

Yes. Prepare Zouk, Brazilian Zouk, or Lambazouk playlists for technique classes, guided practice, and socials. Use BPM ranges with analyzed Local Files or FlowSet Samples to choose practice music, then reuse the setup for another class. To work on one phrase, open a song from either source in single-track playback and repeat the selected passage at an adjusted tempo.

Yes. Use your own playlists for Argentine Tango, Ballroom, Cha-cha, Rumba, Samba, Jive, Foxtrot, Waltz, or other Latin and partner-dance sessions. FlowSet can structure selections and durations, avoid repeats, and reuse the plan. It does not automatically identify dance style, musical phrase, competition category, or syllabus level, so organize source playlists according to your own teaching or event needs.

Yes. Turn your Swing, West Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, or Blues playlists into a reusable class, practice, or social setup. BPM ranges for analyzed Local Files and FlowSet Samples help separate slower material from faster rounds. Automatic queue creation and repeat removal reduce the playlist preparation for each session.

Yes. FlowSet does not restrict set building to partner dance, so you can use playlists for Hip-hop, House, Afro House, Reggaeton, Dancehall, or related class and party contexts. Local tempo tools and transitions can support file-backed music, while Apple Music can supply playlists through your account. Genre selection and suitability remain under your control.

Organize playlists for Contemporary, Ballet, Heels, Pole dance, conditioning, or performance rehearsal and save the setup for another session. To rehearse a specific combination, select the relevant passage in a Local Files or FlowSet Samples song, repeat it in single-track playback, and adjust its tempo once BPM analysis is ready.

BPM means beats per minute and provides a practical way to compare musical tempo. For Local Files and FlowSet Samples, FlowSet can analyze BPM, display it, limit selection to a BPM range, and adjust playback toward a target range. These tools help find slower or faster music for a set, class, or practice session. Apple Music tracks do not receive FlowSet BPM analysis or tempo changes.

FlowSet analyzes file-backed tracks from Local Files and FlowSet Samples to prepare BPM, rhythm, waveform, cue, and transition information. Analysis may appear as in progress before it becomes ready, and a track can be marked unavailable if useful data cannot be produced. Apple Music does not expose its audio to this local analysis path, so these FlowSet analysis features are unavailable there.

Yes. For analyzed Local Files and FlowSet Samples, you can set minimum and maximum BPM values so a selection draws only from music inside the desired range. This is useful for progressive practice, slower teaching rounds, faster social blocks, or workout intensity changes. FlowSet does not apply BPM search limits to Apple Music playlists.

The BPM Search Limit filters a set action so FlowSet selects only analyzed local tracks within the minimum and maximum BPM values you provide. Either boundary can be left open. It changes which tracks are eligible; it does not change their playback speed. Use BPM lock or the player tempo control when you want supported local music adjusted toward a target tempo.

BPM lock is a tempo-control tool for file-backed tracks. In a saved setup, a lock range adjusts selected local tracks toward the BPM window you choose. During playback, a target BPM can also be locked so compatible following tracks stay aligned to that tempo. BPM lock is an advanced Pro player control and is not available for Apple Music tracks.

Yes. Once BPM analysis is ready for a Local Files or FlowSet Samples track, use the playback tempo control to choose a BPM within its supported range or reset to the analyzed tempo. Ordinary tempo adjustment is included in Free, including during selected-passage practice. Playback BPM lock is a separate Pro control. FlowSet cannot change Apple Music tempo.

FlowSet can use analyzed rhythm and tempo information to prepare beatmatched transitions between suitable file-backed tracks when transitions are enabled. This is an automatic playback feature, not a manual sync button or a full deck-performance environment. A transition may fall back according to the available analysis, and FlowSet does not beatmatch Apple Music tracks.

FlowSet supports timing practice with music: find tracks in a useful BPM range, repeat a selected song passage, and adjust its tempo using Local Files or FlowSet Samples. It does not generate metronome clicks, counted subdivisions, or timing scores. Use a dedicated metronome when you want isolated clicks.

Yes. You can combine playlists into a saved music plan for a personal workout, coached session, dance-cardio class, or gym floor. FlowSet can create a fresh queue, remove repeats, and reduce live playlist changes. With local music, BPM ranges, maximum track play time, tempo controls, and transitions can further shape the session.

Yes. Build separate selections from playlists for warm-up, the main training block, recovery, and cooldown, then save the setup for reuse. Choose a track count or use a Smart Set loop to keep selecting tracks for a chosen duration. Name and collapse those loops to make the session plan easier to read.

Yes. Prepare reusable music plans for arrival, warm-up, progressive intensity, recovery, and cooldown. Automatic queue creation and repeat removal reduce playlist management during class. With Local Files and FlowSet Samples, automatic transitions handle track changes, and tempo tools help match the music to the session.

Save the structure as a set setup, then run it again for a fresh queue from the same playlist selections. Duplicate a setup before changing tempo ranges, track counts, block durations, or playlists for a new training level. Categorize and reorder saved setups to keep current routines easy to find. Save a generated set when you want to keep a particular track order; this does not save a selected passage within a song.

No. FlowSet does not record workouts, read heart rate, estimate calories, count repetitions, or store health and fitness metrics. Its Apple Watch companion is for viewing and controlling playback from the paired iPhone app, not health tracking. FlowSet's role in a workout is preparing and playing the music plan; use an appropriate fitness or health app for activity measurement.

FlowSet DJ works on iPhone, iPad, and Mac for set building, music playback, and practice. The Mac app also offers a Text Size setting. The Apple Watch companion works with the paired iPhone to view and control playback; it does not connect to the iPad or Mac app.

The Apple Watch companion can show the music currently playing and send playback controls to FlowSet on its paired iPhone. It is designed as a convenient remote while you teach, dance, perform, or move around a room. It is not a standalone set builder, does not provide fitness tracking, and does not connect to the iPad or Mac app.

The current app targets iOS and iPadOS 26.0 for iPhone and iPad, macOS 26.0 for the Mac Catalyst app, and watchOS 9.0 for the companion app. App Store compatibility is ultimately shown for the device and version you are using, so check the listing before installation if your device cannot update to those versions.

Free includes core set building, the built-in instrumental music, section looping, and ordinary manual tempo adjustment. Its limits are 25 minutes of elapsed queue playback, four saved Smart Sets, and five actions per set. The playback limit is not a daily allowance. Section looping uses Local Files or FlowSet Samples in single-track playback, and tempo adjustment needs ready BPM analysis. Pro removes the queue-playback and setup limits and unlocks additional controls.

Pro removes the elapsed queue-playback, saved Smart Set, and action-count limits. It unlocks Add Track, Add More/Add All queue filling, release of a Smart Set loop during playback, playback BPM lock, and downloads of additional sample packs. Reordering already-manual queue tracks has no separate Pro gate; section looping and ordinary tempo adjustment are included in Free. Check the in-app App Store purchase screen for current prices and available offers, and use Restore Purchases for an existing purchase.

Your own Local Files and already installed FlowSet Samples are file-backed, so they do not require an Apple Music connection for playback. Downloading additional sample packs requires internet access, and Apple Music depends on your account, library availability, and Apple's playback services. Prepare and test the exact sources you plan to use before relying on an offline venue or practice space.

Yes. Open Settings on Mac and choose Text Size in Appearance. Pick a comfortable size for reading playlists, saved setups, and playback controls. This is an in-app text-size setting for the Mac interface.

Confirm that you are signed in to an Apple Music account and follow FlowSet's connection wizard. If the permission prompt does not appear, open system Settings, find Privacy and Security, then Media and Apple Music, and enable access for FlowSet. A denied, restricted, signed-out, or unavailable account state prevents the app from reading and playing your Apple Music library.

Check that FlowSet still has permission to the selected root folder, that playlist files are inside its playlists folder, and that they use the .m3u or .m3u8 extension. The root should also contain the referenced audio, normally under an audio folder. Lowercase folder names are preferred, though existing Audio and Playlists names remain supported. Reconnect the correct root if it moved or was replaced.

Check the source and analysis status first. BPM tools, waveform analysis, and FlowSet transitions use Local Files or FlowSet Samples, not Apple Music. Tempo controls need ready BPM analysis; an analyzing or unavailable state is not usable tempo data. If Section loop is missing, open a track from one of those two sources in single-track playback rather than a playlist or Smart Set queue.

The file may have moved, been renamed, fallen outside the configured root, used an unsupported extension, become unreadable, or no longer match the path stored in its M3U playlist. Protected or unusual codec variants may also fail even when the extension is recognized. Correct the playlist path or file access, then let FlowSet rescan the local library; unsupported files are intentionally ignored.

When an Apple Music track is playing in a mixed set, iOS or iPadOS may show system Previous and Next controls owned by Apple's music player. Those controls do not always follow FlowSet's virtual queue across Apple Music and file-backed boundaries. Use FlowSet's in-app navigation controls for a mixed Smart Set when exact next-track behavior matters, especially with the screen locked.

Use the Contact page on the FlowSet DJ website for a question, issue report, or product feedback. Describe the device, operating-system version, music source, what you were doing, what you expected, and what appeared instead. Do not send subscription offer codes, account credentials, private music files, or other secrets. Clear reproduction details are usually more useful than a general description.

In Settings, Track data clears generated analysis, stored metadata, and manual BPM fixes for the selected Local Files or FlowSet Samples source. BPM fixes cannot be restored automatically; analysis and metadata can regenerate, and tracks may need analysis again. For FlowSet Samples this also clears the fetched remote catalog cache, while the installed catalog stays. Temporary playback copies is a separate Local Files option: it clears staged playback copies and preserves analysis, BPM fixes, and metadata. Neither option deletes audio, playlists, installed sample packs, flags, saved setups, or saved sets.
